So I'm back from Anime Boston 2012, and of course, it did not disappoint. I was finally able to don my new Bowser costume after several months of work, and it was definately worth it. All the events and other cosplayers were totally awesome as well.
I got to participate in a couple of game shows during the first day which was a lot of fun. I was on team "Hallway Obstruction" for AB pictionary (and trust me, its quite difficult drawing by mouse instead of by pencil). I also was on a version of family feud, except in both these game events, my team was not the winner (come on! "Pokemon the First Movie" was totally an anime movie that was shown in American theaters!), but regardless, they were still awesome to participate in.
There were also a lot of other AMAZING cosplayers this year, as there always are. I constantly find myself humbled by the amount of skill and craftsmanship so many other people apply to their costumes, and this year was no exception. I think that is one of the things that makes cosplay so exciting: you get to see great feats undertaken by other people with huge amounts of dedication and knowledge that are nothing short of impressive.
I would have to say, the only thing I found disappointing was the fact that I did not find myself purchasing as much merchandise this year. I guess part of the problem was that I was never really able to focus on a single store, because I was constantly asked for a picture XP. The one thing I was kinda hoping to find was the entire Toradora series on DVD (which was there, but a bit overpriced, so hopefully I will find it at CTcon). I was able to restock on my ramune and hi chew stock (which never lasts long anyways) at a nearby comic shop.
Honestly, going to Anime Boston just makes me that much more excited to go to Connecticon. I hope to participate in as many events as possible, and hopefully we will have an amazing skit ready for the masqerade. Another exciting factor will be that our Mario group will actually be complete with the addition of Mario, Peach, Daisy, and Boo (I need at least one minion). I am kinda looking forward to the break in between the two cons though; I found Anime Boston to be a bit exhausting, but in a good way.
